New stresslinux builds for testing
I've published new builds of stresslinux for testing. They're based on openSUSE 12.3 (quite well tested) and openSUSE 13.1 (not tested).Please use the link to the beta builds in the download section and provide feedback in the forum!

Development builds & Downloads
It's time to publish some news about, what happens behind the scenes. There are now some automated builds available for download. These are development builds, they may have issues which need to be fixed. So please report all errors found in those images.See the top of our download page for link to the testing images. All other "stable" images are now also available via bittorrent download Happy seeding ;-)

A new release (0.7.106) is out, which is a refresh of the basesystem and includes new versions of busybox, lm_sensors, mprime, smartmontools, memtester, netperf, ramspeed (added ramsmp) and y-cruncher.

A new stresslinux release (0.7.105) is ready for download.The base system is now openSUSE 11.4 with updated drivers for r8101,r8168 and r8169. Stresslinux specific packages are updated as well, including busybox, iperf, lm_sensors, lshw, memtest86, memtest86+, mprime, smartmontools (svn r3314), x86info and y-cruncher. There is one known issue, memtest86+ is not working from within the ISO images. This seems to be an issue between the new package and the SUSE Studio build system and will be fixed in a later...

New release is ready for download. It updates some packages to current versions. These includes bandwidth, busybox, lm_sensors, smartmontools and memtester. Also all updates from the openSUSE 11.3 base distribution are included.
Smartmontools & Samsung F4 EcoGreen
WARNING: Using smartctl with Samsung F4 EcoGreen drives may result in write errors and bad blocks. Do not use smartmontools with these drives! See this page for details. I published updated smartmontools packages which output a warning when this type drive is accessed. Use "zypper up" to get the new version.

Just released version 0.6.101 of stresslinux which is based on openSUSE 11.3. Some extra package are updated as well, these include bandwidth, busybox, memtester, stressapptest and x86info.

What is stresslinux

stresslinux is a minimal linux distribution running from a bootable cdrom, usb, vmware or via PXE.

stresslinux makes use of some utitlities available on the net like: stress, cpuburn, hddtemp, lm_sensors ...

stresslinux is dedicated to users who want to test their system(s) entirely on high load and monitoring the health.

Who needs it

Stresslinux is for people (system builders, overclockers) who want to test their hardware under high load and monitor stability and thermal environment.

You should be familiar with linux console because stresslinux comes without a graphical user interface.
